Paul Seltenhammer studied applied arts at the University of Vienna and began his career in local theatres. In 1928 he arrived in Paris and worked for the Folies Bergère from 1929 to 1934. At the first signs of war he returned to Austria then went to Germany where he continued his design career. During the 1950s and 60s he mainly created costumes for film and television studios.
